Review: A Game of Thrones

A Game of Thrones
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m not sure what I can say about this book that hasn’t been said already. This book has everything fantasy readers want — epic proportions, sword fights, wars, political intrigue, dragons, family drama and, oh yeah, freakin’ zombies, or something close enough to them. This is all wrapped up in excellent writing, and it better be because this book is a brick of a novel, and only the first in a brick house of a series.

A word of advice: Don’t watch the HBO mini-series until after you’ve read the book. The series follows the book very closely and is a major spoiler.

I finished this one today and can’t wait to get into the next one.
